Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory is a community based non-profit and all gifts are 100% tax deductable. Donations can be made via cash, check or credit card. Gifts made with a credit card via Just Give are subject to a small processing fee.

Special Events

Attend a special event, or fundraiser. Events are scheduled throughout the year and include a lecture series, boat regattas, student prepared dinners, talent shows and our annual holiday bash. .

Volunteer

PWBF depends on the talent and expertise of volunteers to help deliver programming, create infrastructure, and maintain and grow the organization within the community. If you are interested in volunteering for PWBF please first read our volunteer intake policy letter below to ensure you are able to commit. Then email us for a Volunteer application! Currently we are seeking volunteers for our Summer 2015 WorkReady program which runs July 6-August 14. Dear prospective PWBF volunteer: Thank you for your interest in pursuing the opportunity to volunteer for the Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory! We are looking forward to hearing more about what’s drawn you to want to be a part of the best little boat shop in Philadelphia. Something really special is happening here—we are not just building boats, we’re building youth! We are gearing up for summer programming, which is designed differently from our academic year. As a Summer WorkReady provider and site, our high school students are employed during a 6 week (120 hr) period and engaged in a service learning experience that addresses a community need. Due to the nature of this 2015 summer project, we are seeking volunteers from July 6-August 14 with experience in the following areas: Boat Build and Sail Carpentry* Community Row Riverguides Rowing Motorboat operation Background/active interest in environmental science and issues Experience working with youth of diverse backgrounds (high school teens a plus!) Outlined below is our volunteer intake policy for this summer’s program. Please read it carefully to ensure that you are able to make the necessary commitments to our organization. Consistency—volunteers are expected to commit to at least one day a week for the time determined Demonstration of experience in domain you wish to volunteer Clearances—we require that all volunteers get their PA Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance before volunteering with us. These two processes can both be done online. The cost for both ($10 each) must be paid for by the volunteer. Volunteer Waiver and Release of Liability Attend a 3 hour volunteer orientation and training session *Please note: While having experience working with youth is not a prerequisite for Boat Build and Sail this summer, it is important that our volunteers enjoying working with teens! The next step to applying for a volunteer opportunity with us is filling out an application that can be downloaded from our website.
